God Exposed: Awkward Preaching In A Comfortable Age
We loaded up the church van and headed down to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary to go to the God Exposed Conf. (Southeastern and 9Marks are collaborating to do one mark of the nine each year for nine years.)
Here we are in the van with our fearless leader.
We handed out 9Marks materials to the college students.
I saw some old buddies (left to right- Pri, Ben, Me, Tyler, and Mark).

Mistakes pastors make in practicing church discipline
If only pastors would apply it right. Here are some examples I found very helpful.)
Here is a post by Jonathan Leeman (pic below) on the 9marks blog.

11. They give little attention to the differences between kinds of sinners and how that might affect how long we should bear with a pattern of sin before proceeding to subsequent stages of discipline (see 1 Thessalonians 5:14).
12. They forget that they too live by the gospel’s provision of mercy, and therefore prosecute the discipline from a posture of self-righteousness. Other mistakes follow from this wrong posture, such as an overly severe tone and stand-offishness.
13. They fail to truly love the sinner…
14. …and beg the Lord for his or her repentance.
15. They demand too much from a smoldering wick or bruised reed. In other words, they stipulations for repentance and restoration are too high for this one who has been deeply enslaved in sin’s grip. ..."

Saying one thing; but meaning something different.

The truth is, President Obama is the abortion President. The President, his administration, and the majority of his own political party are risking the passage of comprehensive health care reform because of their unwavering support of abortion rights.
... - just listen to a Congressman from the President's own party.
Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI), a pro-life Democrat, says "They are wrong. The amendment in the health-care bill, that went through the energy committee, we have been involved for a couple of weeks -
- - public funds, public auctions in particular will not have abortions in the public option plan. But, as the premiums are paid, at least one dollar and no more than twelve dollars per month goes into this fund that pays for abortions.
We tried to defeat the amendment in committee, but we lost the vote 28-30. Therefore, it is not a part of HR 3200 as reported for consideration. That is just not correct."
Under the "Baucus" plan,
- "No tax credit or cost-sharing credits may be used to pay for abortions beyond those permitted by the most recent appropriation for the Department of Health and Human Services." That may sound good until you know the facts.
- If the Hyde Amendment is not renewed by September 30, any tax credit or cost-sharing credits referenced in the Baucus plan can be used to pay for abortions. As of today, there is no scheduled vote on the renewal of the Hyde Amendment.
There are many more abortion distortions in the "Baucus" plan which you can read about in the American Center for Law & Justice analysis of the plan.
... the President got up there last week and said there would be no funding for abortion found in the bill. That is not true." Mr. Stupak is right - President "Obortion" is not telling the truth and because of his lies, each one of these health care proposals - whether they contain a public option like HR 3200 or do not like the "Baucus" plan - is destined for failure.
Do not believe the political pundits who tell you abortion is just a wedge issue used during campaign season. As we see here in the crucial debate over health care, abortion may be the only issue that prevents the President and the left-wing of his party from finding enough votes to pass any comprehensive health care reform.
The President, willing to risk a chance at real reform because he sold himself to the abortion industry during the 2008 campaign, has a new name.
